Using film in teaching Russian as a foreign language (C1 level)

It is important to create a natural enviroment for a successful language learning process outside of the target language environment. In that respect the development of four basic language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing should be taken as basis. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages also advises that those skillls should be the key factor in language teaching. The aim of this study is to emphasize the importance and benefits of film use in teaching Russian as foreing language outside the linguistic environment and to develop film based activities for four basic language skills. Films which use in that teaching process must reflect the linguistic enviroment in a natural and realistic way. For his purpose the effects and components of the linguistic enviroment were investigated. The film's structure, functions, benefits, principles of preparation and application. was determined. Also this study analyze the effectiveness of film to four language skills. In addition to that contextual richness of films offers many elements that are important for foreing language teaching outside the linguistic environment. If films are selected correctly, they are very multifunctional tools. In that study, the film In Two Days ("Два дня") directed by Avdotya Smirnova in 2011, used in order to reflect the components of linguistic environment and to develop basic four language skills. This film is a proper for the students who was C1 level lahguage comprehension. The content of these trainings were developed in a such a way that they could be applied in different training programs and course conditions.
