Abstract (EN)

Web pages have become the academic showcase of the universities. It is worthy enough to examine in what level particularly the foreign national students can use the web pages prepared in a foreign language. It has been examined in this master's thesis whether the foreign national students, who have been learning Turkish in the Istanbul University Preparatory School by coming to Turkey, may benefit from the web page of the University at a sufficient level. "Sufficiency of the Istanbul University web page for the foreign national students of the preparatory school" has been discussed in this research. It has been tried to evaluate to what degree the interfaces and connections of the University's English prepared web page serves to this purpose. An effort was shown to understand why the web content of the Istanbul University were prepared in a foreign language, whether they reached to the target audience sufficiently, whether it was effective, and whether it has added value to students. In addition to the Istanbul University, English interfaces of the fifty one universities' web pages have been examined in general terms. English web page of the Istanbul University needs to be improved for foreign students. Increasing the satisfaction of the foreign national students at the higher education and making this continuous will canalize the foreign national students with high potential to come to Turkey and to the universities in Turkey.
