Turkey according to the reports of foreign experts (1949-1951)

ABSTRACT In the later of the first quarter of twentieth century, the direction of the relationship between the Soviet Union and Turkey which acted together against their common enemies such as Britain due to seeking security headed to a very different phase after World War II. During this period, while Turkey was solving the problems against sovereignty rights arising from the Lausanne Straits Agreement with the Montreux Convention at the region of Straits in 1936, the alliance established among United Kingdom, France and Turkey in 1937 disturbed the Soviet Union and in 1945, the Soviet Union dissolved the Turkish-Soviet Neutrality and Non-Aggression Treaty dated December 17, 1925 and demanded Kars and Ardahan from Turkey. Due to territorial claims, in the event that the direction of the relationship between the Soviet Union and Turkey turned from the cooperation phase toward the hostility phase, the process in which Turkey had to locate in the Western alliance began. In my Master's Thesis, I have evaluated the three reports prepared during this period whose original names are Turkey an Economic Apprasial, The Economy of Turkey and Report on the Rational Working Principles in State Institutions and Organizations that are known as Thornburg, Barker and Neumark reports which contributed to the economic relationships to be developed between Turkey and the West and the economic and administrative dynamics of Turkey by referring to the year before 1949 and after 1951.
