Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine whether music is an effective tool in teaching Turkish vocabulary to foreigners. The study was carried out using quantitative methods. Pre-test and post-test, which is one of the quasi-experimental models, forms the pattern of study. The study was conducted with B1 students studying at Inonu University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TOMER) in 2016-2017 academic year. The experiment and control groups of the study consisted of 15 students who were equal in terms of education level. Personal information form, expert opinion form and vocabulary measurement form developed by the researcher were used to collect the data. While the program for the acquisition of the Turkish vocabulary prepared by the researcher was applied to the experiment group for a total of 10 weeks (2 hours per week); in the control group, education was continued in accordance with the Turkish Teaching Program for Foreigners. As a result of this practice, the answers of experiment and control group students to the vocabulary measurement form were compared. As a result of the study, it was determined that music education with songs containing the words in the program was effective in teaching Turkish vocabulary to foreign students.
