Özet (EN)
This study looks at five textbooks for teaching Turkish to foreigners prepared by Turkish writers for several state universities. The study focuses on the grammar topics covered by the textbooks, the order in which they were presented, and the methods used to teach the language. We believe that grammar is the most important component of teaching Turkish as a foreign language because it enables students to develop equally the four primary language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. For this reason, we analyzed the importance given to teaching grammar in the textbooks under study, the order of grammar topics, and the methods used to teach grammar. In this process, we sought to determine which textbooks had an eclectic methodology and functional-conceptual approach, which we believe makes it easier and quicker for students to communicate correctly and effectively in their daily lives. Our aim in doing this was to provide a guide for work being done in this area. Additionally, we sought to determine whether the order of grammar topics was in accord with CEF basic language skills and grammar proficiency levels.Through this analysis, we determined that all the textbooks differed in the importance they assigned to grammar, that they did not share the same methodology, and that none of the texts ? with the exception of Ankara University?s New Hittite Series Turkish Lessons for Foreigners (1-2-3) ? were prepared in accordance with CEF standards.
