Reflections of the female figure in wild belief rituals on contemporary ceramic art

Wild beliefs have been kept alive and passed on for generations by communities that understand and connect with nature and aim to communicate with the spiritual world believed to exist. These beliefs have also brought rituals with them. The role of the female figure in beliefs also began here. In wild belief rituals, the female figure has been addressed and examined in two contexts. The first of these contexts is women who make the ritual happen, while the other is women for whom rituals are performed. Women for whom rituals are performed are divided into three as women who are worshipped, re- existing and feared due to cultural and geographical diversity. In the study, these women and their rituals have been examined through the characters of Kybele, La Loba and Lilith. Wild belief rituals, which manifest themselves in every area of life and are passed on for generations, have of course formed the basis of primitive art. Art has sometimes been a way for wild people to represent and honor their spiritual beliefs; sometimes it has even been a part of the ritual itself. Ceramic art, which is as old as wild beliefs, has become an important part of these rituals with its surface and form features. Wild people have seen ceramics not only as a usable item but also as a symbolic form of expression. Ancient women who are connected to the earth as a part of the universe and their traces made of terracotta have also attracted the attention of contemporary artists and have created an endless source. In this study, the reflections of wild beliefs and rituals under the influence of the female figure in ceramic art have been examined. Through Kybele, La Loba and Lilith; it was aimed to draw attention to the depth of the female figure that forms the cultural and spiritual texture with its reflections in contemporary ceramic art.
