The tooth profile of these gears consists of two different curves. Because of this,machining of these gears accurately is so difficult. Recently, the CNC milling machines havebecome widespread in the workshop. In this study, a general CAM programme was developedcorresponding to the tool path equations for cutting in the CNC milling machine of cycloidalgears differently from the conventional methods.Firstly, the conventional production methods of cycloidal gears have been investigatedfor this aim, then two methods which are axial and radial processing have been determined forthe production of cycloidal gears in the CNC milling machine. A general CAM programme wasprepared for radial machining method. The production of cycloidal gears was performed withthis program in the CNC milling machine by using end mill. Then, a computer program wasIdeveloped in MATLAB for error analysis of manufactured gears. Deviation variation graphicsof the tooth profile of the cycloidal gears have been drawn by using the developed program.Also, a model that used regression method was developed for the prediction of the productiontime of these gears in the CNC milling machine. By the developed model, the production timeshave been compared as experimental and theoretical.In conclusion; the cycloidal gears machined by using end mill in the CNC millingmachine were found to be suitable for industry as the results of measurement of manufacturedteeth.Keywords: Cycloidal gears, CNC milling machine, CAM program, Tooth profileerrors, Product time, Cycloidal gearing pump.II
