Abstract (EN)
In this paper, it is aimed to identify the authenticity of the oil painting without signature, belongs to the collection of Faculty of Literature of Istanbul University, which has the landscape on one side and a female figure on the other side. The oil painting was examined with visible light (VIS), raking light, ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) light. In the paper, scientific methods such as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) were used for pigment and binder analysis. In addition, dendrochronology analyzes were made for the chassis of the painting to determine the type and age of the wooden element. In conclusion, The dating of the oil painting has been reached after the analysis on both surfaces of the painting and the literature review of the the artist's colour palette. The approximate dating has been made with discussions if it overlaps with the Dendrochronology and Art History interpretations.
