Abstract (EN)

Yahyâ b. Adam was a distinguished scholar who rose to prominence in the second century. With his extensive knowledge in the field of Hadith, he became a reference point for many narrators. He was praised a lot and his scientific competence was accepted by the scholars. His only work that has survived to the present day is Kitâb al-Harâj. In this work, he evaluated the information on Haraj (land tax and state revenues), a sub-topic of fiqh, from a hadith perspective. He shaped the work by using the hadiths of marfu, mawquf and maqtu together. He also included different fiqh approaches of his own period and previous periods on the subjects within the scope of haraj. In addition to his talent in hadith, Yahyâ also achieved significant competence in recitation and jurisprudence. This wide range of knowledge enabled him to be one of the prominent scholars of his time. In this study, Yahyâ's life, his scientific identity and his hadith studies in the context of Kitâb al-Harâj were examined and a general conclusion was attempted to be reached.
