Yakinî's Dîvân contextual index and functional dictionary

Divan Literature is a tradition that continued from the end of the 13th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The most effective way of looking at that world from today is the literary works that are the photographs of the mentality of that period. The main vein that connects literary works to socio-cultural life is language. Poets and writers create their literary works within the limits of language. To fully understand the social, cultural and even economic conditions of the period that shaped the literary style that created the work, indirectly and directly, is to understand the language, which is the basic building block of the work. This situation has increased the importance of studies on language. We need to know the language of the period and the structure of the language. In this context, dictionary studies have a special importance for Turkish Literature. In this dictionary study, which was prepared with the infrastructure of the TEBDİZ project, the vocabulary and meaning world of Yakînî Dîvân was tried to be revealed. After this, the poet's life, literary personality and style have been included based on both the existing sources and the Divan. This study, together with the preparation of Yakînî's Dîvânı's dictionary, will be a work that will facilitate the determination of his style and worldview specific to Classical Turkish Literature, and the understanding of the depth of meaning in his poems. The aim of this study, which is based on the doctoral thesis titled "Yakînî (d.1568): Dîvân Critiqued Text, Research, Index" prepared by Prof. Ömer Zülfe and published in Istanbul in 2004, is to determine the different meanings that the poet ascribes to the words through the context. While determining this, the course of the words in the literary language will be followed with the help of the context dictionary. In this study, where all the words are included, the meaning of each word is interpreted through the context of the text.
