One of the most effective tools for the individuals in society to reach the desired life standards is education. Education is responsible for the duties to gain the individuals behavioral changes according to society?s needs and demands; and to facilitate their harmony with the society?s conditions and to implement these. Thanks to this, education tries to find solutions for the potential problems by consolidating society?s social development.Behavior of individuals that live in a society and interpersonal relations, reflects the social change in that current period. For that reason, social change shows up in social institutions such as family, economy, religion, politics, law and education.Social change especially beginning from Europe in the 19th Century, rapidly spread out in our country, was affected by this change. However, it was not easy to blend with the change and the transformation in the West. ?West vs. Ottoman? dilemma came out and as a result of this, several social problems emerged on the point of civilization, culture, and mind diverseness. System of values was affected; and social changes that aroused as a result of this were issued in a lot of literary works.Yakup Kadri, who was a writer of that period, was affected by the events and wrote out our social life that includes 1950s with its various aspects start from Balkan war to 1st World War, from National Struggle to foundation of new Turkish Republic in his novels.Yakup Kadri, who was a good observer and at the same time a good reader, wrote literary works in various types such as prose poem, story, theatre, novel, memory, and article. In his works, he mentioned about events that took place during Reform (Tanzimat) and after Reform, change process of our people who met West Civilization, generation discussions and conflicts were mentioned in a tragic way.To what degree does Yakup Kadri, who was sensitive to society?s problems, reflect the theme of education in his works, which we especially emphasize its importance? This work is prepared by starting from this question and the answer of this question is searched.Yakup Kadri, who mostly mentioned about Reforms, social change and problems by 1950s, didn?t directly focus on educational problems; however, he put emphasis on the subjects related to education such as changing values, family structure, intellectual people, religion and faith; and he emphasized the importance of education on this aspect.
