Gazavatname of Yakup Pasha, conversion to latin letters and evaluation

Gazanames or gazavatnames are the works that describes the battles and the heroism of veterans. Generally, if the subject of the workis a single war, it is a gazaname. But if it describes two or more battles then it is called gazavatname. Gazavatnames fill the unknown and incomplete areas of Ottoman history along with the chronicles. Gazavatname of Yakup Paşa, the subject of this work, gives information about the wars and raids commanded by Yakup Paşa, governor of Bosnia, in 1493. In the work, the raids of Yakup Paşa and the war between the forces ofhim and the army which was formed by the King of Hungary have been described. The commander of Hungarian army was Derencil and after the war has been caught by Ottoman soldiers. In the work, the typical features of gazavatnames are present such as praising the commander exaggeratedly, to ascribe divine characteristics to him, to exaggerate the heroism of him. In this study, the Ottoman Turkish text was transcribed to present Turkish form and the work was compared with other historical sources.
