The examination of loneliness in terms of attachment styles, desire for being liked and fear of negative evulation

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between loneliness, attachment styles, desire for being liked and fear of negative evaluation. The study also examined whether loneliness, attachment styles, desire for being liked and fear of negative evulation differ according to marital status and gender. The study group consists of 485 female and 205 male participants aged 19 and above. Data on loneliness "De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale", data on attachment styles "Relationship Scales Questionnaire", data on desire for being liked "Desire for Being Liked Scale" and data on fear of negative evaluation were collected using the "Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale". In the study, the relationships between loneliness and attachment styles (fearful, dismissive, secure, preoccupied), desire for being liked and fear of negative evaluation were examined by correlation and regression analysis. In addition, whether the level of loneliness, attachment style (fearful, dismissive, secure, preoccupied), fear of negative evaluation and desire for being liked significantly differentiated according to gender and marital status was examined by independent sample t-test. The result of the analysis, it was found that the loneliness levels of the individuals was significantly predicted by the fearful, secure and preoccupied attachment styles and the desire for being liked variables, while it was not predicted by the dismissive attachment style and the fear of negative evaluation variables. Furthermore, it was found that the level of loneliness, two attachment style (fearful, secure), significantly differentiated according to the marital status, and those attachment styles significantly differentiated according to the gender. On the other hand, it was concluded that the level of dismissive, and preoccupied attachment styles, desire for being liked, and fear of negative evaluation did not differ significantly depending on gender and marital status. In addition, it was found that the level of loneliness did not differ significantly according to the gender.
