Abstract (EN)

DaAim: This research was conducted to determine the effect of yoga on burn patients self-esteem and body image. Materials and Method: The research was carried out in a quasi-experimental desingn model with pre-test post-test control group. The population of the research was consisted of patients at İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center Adult Burn Unit. The sample consisted of 110 patients (55 in experimental group, 55 in control group) selected from this populatin using the improbable random sampling method. The research was conducted December 2016-April 2018. Data were collected between March 2017-December 2017. The data were collected using the Personal Identification Form, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and the Body Image Scale. A 30-minute yoga practice was performed to the experimental group three days a week for four weeks by the researcher. İn the data analysis; mean, standard deviation, chi-square, independent sample t test and paired t test were used. Findings: After the yoga intervention, a statistically significant increase in the self-esteem mean score of the experimental group was determined (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test in the self-esteem mean score of the control group (p>0.05). After yoga intervention, a statistically significant improvement was found in the body image mean score of the experimental group (p <0.05). A statistically significant worsening in pre-and post-test in body image mean score of the the control group was determined (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was seen that yoga intervention had significantly increased the burn patient self-esteem and improved body image. ha sonra doldurulacaktır
