Abstract (EN)

In building design, lighting is often perceived only for seeing or attracting attention. Therefore, unnecessary lighting systems are used and illumination can be reached inappropriate levels. Studies show that light has visual (on visual system and its effects) and non-visual effects (on biorhtym) on human health. Also, deficiency of daylight is linked with many diseases. In this context, interior illuminance has to be taken under control in terms of building biology since humans are spending most of their time in buildings.For the control of health problems related with illumination, the interior illumination levels, quality of the work and the user?s health have to be determined. In the control the regarding of health problems which is connected with illumination levels, first of all, it has to be determined as interior illumination levels, property of work and user health. So that, primarily definition and classification of illumination are expressed in this thesis. Later, the relation between illuminance and biological rhytm is formed by examining visual system and perception. Then, introducing biological, psychological and sociological this problems effects on user health, precaution and advices for insuitable illumination levels indoor environment are explained.For a quality living, one of the important criteria is healthy building and environment. The basic need of human is to lead a healthy life. Proving a health building and environment will also form a healthy society and will prevent the economical loss caused by building related illness and accidents.
