Abstract (EN)

The changing living conditions along with the industrial revolution have rapidly increased the urbanization process as well as energy consumption. As a result of the investigations made, it is known that the vast majority of the energy consumed in the world is due to the result of the activities related to the buildings. Trying to meet this energy source from consumable energy sources consumes energy sources from day to day. The rapid increase in environmental damage due to fossil fuel consumption threatens the ecological balance. Also, the energy demand of countries whose economies and population increase rapidly such as Turkey grow rapidly. Therefore, in order to reduce dependency on foreign countries, it is necessary to reduce energy consumption and to increase productivity. At this point, it is important to re-evaluate and implement the country's economy, the architectural design for environmental protection and the application processes. In this research, the reduction of annual energy consumption without compromising the comfort conditions of users is evaluated by building envelope design parameters. The relationship between initial investment costs and annual energy consumption costs is evaluated by determining the thermal performances of designed different building envelope suggestions. This thesis is divided into 5 parts. In the first part, the previous studies and beneficial sources about this subject are mentioned by conducting the literature review. Then, the aim of the thesis and the expected results at the end of study are presented. In the second part, the importance of public buildings in the design of energy efficient buildings is analyzed by the historical and architectural development of the public buildings evaluated in the scope of this thesis. In the third part, by classifying parameter effective in energy efficient building design it is explained how these parameters should be evaluated according to the climate condition characteristics. In addition, some regulations and standards developed on energy efficient building design in our country are included. In the fourth chapter, the application of the selected reference court building in the hot climate region was carried out. Monthly and yearly energy consumption are calculated by modeling the reference building in the Design Builder simulation program, then building shell alternatives are formed within the scope of energy efficient building design. The initial investment costs, the annual energy consumption costs and energy identity classes for the developed building shell alternatives were calculated and the results are compared. In the fifth conclusion section, the suggestions for future studies are presented by evaluating the findings obtained in the study.
