Housing problem, that had firstly emerged in Ankara after the establishment ofTurkish Republic, increased after the 2nd World War. Relative to the populationincreases in the cities, housing and the other urban infra structural requierments hasincreased as well.Housing was one of the most important problems of the deprived part of society thelow income groups. In market conditions, some low income groups had to developan unhealty house form called ?shantytown? that lacked urban infra structure.Therefore, with govermental policies some measures were taken to block thedevelopment of this kind of houses but these precautions were nor enough. In 80? sthe housing necessity caused searches for urgent reorganization plans. Mass Housinglaws were establihed and by these laws, a clear resurgence observed in the housingsector.The Housing Cooperatives that had first developed at 1934 represents a type oflicensed reidence. This development pattern had rised after 1960s. With theestablishment of Mass Housing Laws in 1980s production of housing units had greatincreases.The housing sector that had accelerated vith the establishment of Mass Housing Lawcreated important housing cooperative samples also in İzmir. The success ofEgekent1 that is one of the important mass housing projects depending on its scaleand the amount of units is examined in this thesis the sample of first Mass Housingtaht has been produced by Housing Cooperative Model.
