Abstract (EN)

Of the world's leading countries in terms of mineral diversity, Turkey, mining operation in the world is a country located in the first rank. In a country where mining is advanced so take advantage of the characteristics of mining works towards the advancement of technology is a natural condition to be done. Boron, is ranked first in the minerals extracted in Turkey. In addition, Turkey has some 73% of the world's boron reserves. Physical and chemical properties of boron, greatly inreased the use of boron. Boron is planned to use as a raw material for many products and also as pure boron is quite difficult and very expensive to obtain. Magnesium borates, which is important group of compounds of boron, are one of the sought after raw materials, due to high boron content, in industrial sector. Magnesium borate compounds as obtained by natural means also be produced synthetically in a laboratory. Magnesium borate compounds are obtained by 3 different methods in laboratory. These methods; thermal synthesis (solid-state method), hydrothermal synthesis and microwave method. Thermal method: raw materials are reacted in the air or inert atmosphere in high temperature furnace. Hydrothermal method: magnesium and boron sources are complete reaction with temperature effects in liquid medium. Microwave method: magnesium and boron source are reacted under microwave radiation. In this thesis, magnesium oxide (MgO), magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2.6H2O) and boron oxide (B2O3) was used as raw materials, pure boracid is aimed to synthesize by solid state metod. Pure boracid was prepared by different theoretical reaction rate, reaction temperature, reaction time and raw material. Experimental studies are interpreted by XRD, FT-IR and SEM analysis results. Also in this study, using different amounts of magnesium chloride hexahydrate or magnesium oxide-free analysis methods were also applied to achieve better results. Pure boracid were obtained in all experiments and analysis. The best products obtained in 1 hour at 600oC has occurred from magnesium chloride hexahydrate and boron oxide. SEM analysis was conducted to 01-071-0750 coded obtained pure boracid mineral and it was determined that nano-sized.
