Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine book covers produced through AI-assisted design applications within the context of graphic design principles. The research explores the impact of AI technology on design processes, particularly focusing on the aesthetic and functional dimensions of book cover design. The thesis analyzes the process of creating book covers using an AI tool called DALL-E, based on specific guidelines. AI-designed covers are evaluated according to graphic design principles and compared with those produced by human designers. Literature review and visual analysis techniques were used as research methods. The AI-assisted designs were generated following the specified guidelines and examined in terms of key graphic design principles such as aesthetics, typography, color usage, and hierarchy. The findings reveal that although AI tools provide quick and diverse design options, they lack the depth and originality of designs created by human creativity. Additionally, it was found that AI-assisted designs show deficiencies in important design elements such as visual hierarchy and composition. While AI-supported graphic design applications offer advantages in terms of speed and efficiency compared to traditional methods, the human factor remains indispensable in artistic and aesthetic dimensions. This study contributes to understanding the differences between AI and human creativity and how these two elements can work together.
