Abstract (EN)
The history of the machine is parallel to the history of humanity formed with production. The development and transformation processes of the machine in history were made possible by the developments in science and technology. In this context, while the history of the machine progressed in a way that is intertwined with the history of science and technology, it also played a leading role in the developments that have important turning points in the history of societies such as the Industrial Revolutions. In short, the machine is located in the middle of the natural sciences and the research area of humanities. In this respect, researching and examining the history of the machine is very important both to better understand the social processes and to understand the social effects of science and technology. Based on this idea, this thesis has developed a multi-layered perspective on the history of the machine. The most advanced version of the machine today is artificial intelligence technologies. The concept of machinery, which has become more complex day by day due to technological developments, continues to affect societies and individuals in many different ways. If we consider the pace of developments in artificial intelligence, it is possible to see that these effects will be more intense day by day. However, in parallel with the understanding of progress for progress, the issue of thinking about the effects of technology developing exponentially in the near future has always been a deficient area of positive sciences. This study is an attempt to think about this missing area. We live in an era called the fourth industrial revolution, where developments in artificial intelligence have begun to be incorporated into our lives. From this point on, looking at the future, thinking about what the benefits or harms of the current process will be for humanity is the most important step that must be taken in order to reach the "better life" utopia that humanity has been trying to achieve since the beginning of history. Creating a dream provides an opportunity to look at it from a distance and evaluate it by alienating people from time and place. Science fiction cinema, on the other hand, provides the opportunity to make such an evaluation by bringing the dream worlds, which can be realized in the light of scientific and technological developments about the future, with millions of people. For this reason, this study aims to use the power of dreaming about the future by analyzing the worlds created by shaping around artificial intelligence in science fiction cinema. The study consists of 3 parts. In the first part, the history of the machine started with a brief overview of the world before the industrial revolutions, and the first, second, third and fourth industrial revolutions were discussed. The fourth industrial revolution has been considered as the period in which the machine, which is the main subject of the thesis, developed in artificial intelligence, and how this new technology will transform our lives is examined. In the second part, human imagination is used for the near future imagination and science fiction cinema is examined in the context of artificial intelligence. Accordingly, it was discussed how people's ideas against the machine were shaped under the social conditions of the period and reflected in the cinema. Finally, in the third chapter, film analyzes were made with examples of artificial intelligence from dystopian science fiction cinema. Artificial intelligence perception has been studied with its reflections in dystopian science fiction movies. As a result of this examination, it has been tried to reveal where artificial intelligence will be located in human life and how it will affect societies in the future.
