Abstract (EN)
Because of the increasing electrical consumption every year and the sources, which gets electrical energy, mostly depends on fossil sources, raises the importance of the renewable energy. Besides these, limited fossil sources, dependence on foreign country to get these sources and greenhouse gases, which arise from the use of fossil sources, cause global warming and deteriorate of the air quality another reasons to put forward of the renewable energy sources. Using windpower energy among the other energy sources to provide increasing energy demand has become prevalent in recent years. In Turkey, windpower energy production has increased and expected to increase continuously. In the first part of this study, the quality of wind and it`s effecting factors are discussed. In addition, wind potential and wind maps of world and Turkey has been reviewed. Then, the height, roughness and turbulence effects on energy which is obtained by wind, and also using different methods like Weibull and Rayleight, calculation of distribution and potential of wind is investigated. At the end of this part, structure and classification of wind turbines are discussed. In the application part of study, considering buildings, firstly, energy requirements for a structure in Incek, south-west part of Ankara, is calculated. Then, considering wind characterization and site topography features, the most appropriate type of wind turbine, which is able to meet the needs of building`s energy, is selected. In order to define wind potential of the site and optimization studies, WindPRO 2.7 software which is developed by Danish EMD International Company and WAsP 9.0 software which is developed by Risø National Laboratory of Danish Technical University were used.
