Abstract (EN)
Every day, many buildings are evacuated for demolition at the end of their useful life. The abundance of such risky buildings has increased the need for advanced demolition techniques. The fastest of these techniques is destruction with explosives. When this demolition technique is applied on different structures in a planned manner, it is safer, faster and cheaper than traditional demolition techniques. In addition to these advantages of demolition with controlled blasting, there are also disadvantages such as not being demolished the structure or not being collapsed in the desired direction. The amount of explosives, their locations and the order of detonation must be determined correctly in order to plan the controlled demolition of structures in the most accurate way. Making simulations with the finite element model in the planning of blasting will be beneficial for a realistic design. In this thesis, a simulation program that will predict the mechanism of demolition in a realistic way by analyzing the structural behavior of structures planned to be demolished with explosives has been prepared. The program was tested on a reinforced concrete cement silo that will be demolished with explosives. The demolition plan of the silo was analyzed with the simulation program and the actual demolition direction was compared with the demolition direction obtained at each step. The results obtained after real blasting confirm the collapse mechanism predicted by simulation. By using the results of this study, it will be possible to predict the success of explosive demolition plans and the demolition mechanism of the structure in advance.
