Abstract (EN)

Vibration is a major problem in industry from household appliances to aerospace applications including satellite solar panels. Un-controlled vibration can lead to undesirable results such as broken welding joints, loose fixtures, lose of comfort of user. This kind of vibration can be taken under control by using active or passive devices. Passive devices such as dampers and shock absorbers are simple solutions but they cannot adapt themselves to the dynamic response of the system when the system dynamics are subject to a change. Also it is not possible to configure a passive absorber to manipulate the system's steady state final displacement. In contrast to passive devices active vibration suppression systems can adopt the variable system dynamics with the help of feedback control. In addition to this steady state position manipulation can be performed by using this control loop resulting with composite vibration suppression and displacement manipulation system. Vibration can be sensed by measuring displacement, velocity or the acceleration. Measurement of displacement can be done by laser, ultrasonic or contact based instruments. Among these methods laser displacement measurement is the most suitable for the purpose because of its non contact nature does not alter the system dynamics. In this study vibration is suppressed by the help of magnetic field under the control of a closed loop system. The measured displacement values are evaluated by specially designed control electronics and the electromagnet coil is driven by the same board. This makes the system standalone and removes the traditional requirement of PC usage to perform vibration suppression task.
