Güven Turan's noveling and storywriting from structural and thematic terms

Güven Turan is among the contemporary writers of the 1960-1980 generation. Since the 1970s, when he started writing his first works, the writer, who has been searching for both theme and form, has, unlike his contemporaries, mainly addressed the ontological problems of the individual such as loneliness, sexuality, love, etc. in his works. The artist, who was influenced by the leading works of English and Spanish literature, especially American literature, which he followed, has addressed the basic ontological problems of the individual in his various novels. He began his novel writing career with the novel Dalyan, which would be deemed worthy of the 1979 Turkish Language Association Award. Following the novel Dalyan, he has written three novels and two story books to date. In literature reviews on the artist's works and life, it has been determined that there are not many studies on him. One of the few studies is Ayşe Seferoğlu's work titled "The Poetics of Güven Turan, a Poet of the 1960 Generation: Structure, Theme and Content." Our study, unlike this study, focuses on the thematic aspects of the artist's stories and novels. The study was started with the first readings of Güven Turan's stories and novels. And as a result of the first readings, it was determined that themes such as loneliness, sexuality and women came to the fore in the works. Therefore, in this study, Güven Turan's stories and novels will be evaluated in terms of the mentioned themes. Again, it will be determined what place these themes have in the formation of the author's poetics.
