Mechanical analysis of adhesive with bonded inverse Z type ties of composite materials

Abstract (EN)

The improvemets in the physical and mechanical properties of industrial adhesives have caused that adhesive bonding technique has beeen used succesfully in most engineering areas. Due to its some advantages over the othes fastening methods, adhesively bonded joints have been analysed by many researchers. In this study, an adhesively bonded inverse Z type joint has been analysed. The material of the support and horizontal plate which are members of joint was manufactured to be composite materials. The Finite Element Method(FEM) which is very powerful numerical solution technique was used in analysis. All analyses were carried out using the general purposed finite element sofware Ansys(10.0). In this analysis, the variations of peak stresses, have been investigated, overlap distance(a), model breadth(b), model thickness(t) and overlap angle(). Experimental results with numerical results are compared and found quite reasonable. Bearing stresses(Sx,Sy,Sz,Sxy,Sxz,Seqv) which are depending on dimension of the plate(a, b) are shown in figures and graphics.
