Abstract (EN)
In this study, in order to better understand the effects of normal and shear stresses on the strength of adhesive joints, two end-to-end conical and elliptical adhesive joint geometries, in which the normal and shear stresses that will occur at the interface, change with the change of the taper angle and elliptical radius. Numerical analysis of the butt joint, obtained by using DP810 structural adhesive, has been performed on two bonded materials, aluminum and structural steel, with conical bonding surfaces at different angles and elliptical bonding surfaces with different radii of curvature. In the analyzes, failure loads were determined for the same adhesion surfaces of the joints, for the different angles and radii of curvature, using both the von Mises yield and fracture criterion and the cohesive zone model damage criterion. In addition, stress distribution graphs were obtained for all adhesion surfaces and the same load, and their comparisons were made. As a result of the study, when the equivalent stresses were compared, it was observed that the equivalent stresses obtained using the Cohesive zone model were higher. As the angle and diameter value increased in the conical joint geometry, the joint damage loads increased, and in the elliptical joint geometry, it first decreased and then increased with the increase in the radius of curvature.
