Abstract (EN)

In this study, the electrospinning method was used to produce gelatin (GEL), a natural biopolymer, and nanofibers containing the natural component Cotinus coggyriga (CC) extract, which has healing properties on wounds. It was aimed to investigate the surface characterization of nanofibers containing plant extract and different wound dressing samples coated with these fibers, and the antibacterial properties of the created surfaces with prepared extract. For this purpose, methanol and distilled water were used as solvents to obtain Cotinus coggyriga (CC) extract, and lyophilization drying technique was applied after the extraction process. According to the analysis results of the extract whose solvent was distilled water, the extract obtained with distilled water was preferred for electrospinning since the total phenolic substance content was 747.84 (mg GA/g extract) and the total antioxidant capacity was 402.13 (mM Trolox/g extract). Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis of plant leaves was made. Characterization and antibacterial activities of the solutions obtained by adding Cotinus coggyriga extract at concentrations of 5%-7.5%-10%-12.5%-15% (w/v) were performed. Electrospinning of the solutions created by adding Cotinus coggyriga extract at concentrations of 5% - 7.5% - 10% - 12.5% (w/v) to 10% (w/v) gelatin solutions was successfully carried out. The produced nanofibers were electrospun onto four different commercial medical textile surfaces used for medical purposes by electrospinning for one, three and five hours. The antibacterial properties of the created surfaces were examined. All these studies show that the antibacterial properties increase with the CC concentration in solutions, nanofibrous surfaces can be produced optimally with a maximum of 7.5% CC concentration, antibacterial properties are preserved during the electrospinning process, and nanofibrous surfaces that can be used as wound dressings with enhanced antibacterial properties can be obtained by electrospinning on four different commercially used medical textile surfaces.
