Examining of the creative thinking over the students of nursing school

SUMMARY EXAMINING OF THE CREATIVE THINKING OVER THE STUDENTS OF NURSING SCHOOL This research has been done as the descriptive by the aim of examining some elements which affect the creative thinking of the students at University of Dokuz Eylül Nursing School. Sampling of this research has been set by the 170 students who are educating with University of Dokuz Eylül Nursing School during the academic year 1997-1998. Torrance Test of Creative Thinking Verbal A Form was used as the data collecting tool. During this research, the relation between fluency, flexibility and originality dimensions of the test and the age, level of class, the place at which having lived longest period, economical situation, number of individuals of the family, education level of mother and education level of the father, the notes for entering in the Nursing School from the Student Settlement Examination of the students, class notes were reviewed. The obtained data were evaluated by the result of percentage, average calculations, one-way anova, duncan and scheffe tests, stepwise multi regression analysis. In general, the average notes of the fluency dimension of the students were found high. Then, this was consequently followed by the average notes of the originality and of the flexibility. As the levels of class, economic situation and the education levels of father rise, their fluency/ originality/ flexibility average notes have been rising. Parallel to these findings, some suggestions were given regarding to nursing training, nursing trainers and researchers.
