Abstract (EN)
In this study, the impact of creative writing method on the writing self-efficacy, attitudes towards writing skills and academic success of writing skills of 6th grade students was examined. 59 students in the 6th grade (32 experimental-29 control) of "8 Subat Secondary School" located in Şehitkamil district, Gaziantep participated in the experimental research in the fall semester of 2013-2014 academic year. "Writing self-efficacy scale" developed by Şengül (2013), "attitude scale towards writing" developed by Susar Kırmızı (2009) and "Writing Skills Assessment Form" which is appropriate to be used by the Ministry of Education as a means of assessment in the field of teaching writing in Turkish courses are used in the collection of data. Independent sample t-test, paired sample t-test and covariance analysis among statistical techniques were used through the SPSS 20.0 software. Creative writing studies were conducted within the experimental group for two hours a week for twelve weeks; teaching program was conducted within the control group based on Turkish Teaching Program without any intervention made. According to the findings of the research, it was found out that the writing self-efficacy, attitudes towards writing skills and academic success of writing skills of the students in the experimental group increased significantly; it was also clear that there is not an important difference in level of the writing self-efficacy, attitudes towards writing skills and academic success of writing skills of the students in the control group. As a result of covariance analysis tests conducted on the group final tests, it was seen that there was a significant difference in favour of the experimental group. Besides, it was concluded that the gender factor has a significant difference on students' writing self-efficacy, attitudes towards writing skills, and academic success for the writing skills. According to the research results, creative writing method can be said to be more effective to increase the academic success of the students' writing self-efficacy perception, attitudes towards writing skills, and academic success for the writing skills than the writing applications based on the Turkish Education Programme.
