Abstract (EN)
A research study was carried out on the effectiveness of the Creative Reversal Act (CREACT) on 7th grade students' creative thinking in language arts courses. The CREACT is a teaching technique developed based on the theory of the Janusian thinking process. The CREACT consists of a series of construction, segregation, opposition, combination, elaboration steps. A pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design was used to examine the effectiveness of the CREACT. The research participants included 70 students who were attending at a middle school in Eskisehir, Turkey. In the process of implementation of the research, students in the experimental groups were taught ten lessons for one hour a week using the CREACT in their language arts courses. The overall study took 12 weeks, ten for the instruction and two for the pretests and posttests. Students were administered a paradoxes task and a concept task as pretests and posttests. ANCOVA was used to analyze data. Findings showed that the use of the CREACT improved students' creative performance significantly on the paradoxes task and the concept task. Key words: Creative thinking teaching, Janusian thinking, CREACT
