Abstract (EN)
This study aims to investigate the impact of the dimensions of work-life balance (WLB) on employees' value congruence and retention within the hospitality industry. The study investigates value congruence as a potential mediator between work-life balance dimensions and employee retention, distinguishing between the intention to stay and leave. Data were collected from 520 hospitality employees using a non-probability convenience sampling technique and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with AMOS and SPSS software. The findings suggest that the four dimensions of WLB are linked to intention to leave, whereas the intention to stay is associated with only two dimensions: personal life interference with work (PLIW) and work enhancement of personal life (WEPL). Value congruence is positively associated to the positive aspects of WLB (enhancement) and is identified as a mediator in the relationship between these dimensions of WLB and the intention to stay, but not associated with the intention to leave. Moreover, the result suggests that while value congruence positively affects the intention to stay, it does not significantly influence intention to leave. The study offers practical recommendations for hospitality managers to enhance WLB and value congruence, thereby improving employee retention. Overall, this research provides substantial insights into the determinants of employee retention in the hospitality industry, emphasizing the significance of supportive work environments and value congruence.
