The vocabulary in Yaşar Kemal's Binboğalar Efsanesi

Language is a naturally formed instrument that is shaped by the culture of each societies and that ensures communication among people. Vocabulary also plays an important role in determining the relationship between language and culture. Basic vocabulary, foreign words, idioms, proverbs, relational words, fixed expressions, terms, and translated words are generally considered as elements within the scope of vocabulary. The vocabulary is not only limited with these but also it consists of all the words that shape the custom and traditions, the lifestyle, the moral and material culture of the society. In this study, it is aimed to contribute to Turkish vocabulary with the review of Yaşar Kemal's Binboğalar Efsanesi. In accordance with this purpose, vocabulary elements in the novel are determined by the literature review method.The identified elements are classified and the sentences in the novel are given together with the page numbers. As a result of the study, it can be seen that Yaşar Kemal includes many elements of the rich vocabulary of Turkish language in his works. It has been included in the results section the percentage distribution of the vocabulary. In this study, the vocabulary that reflects the richness of the Turkish language has been revealed based on the work.
