Abstract (EN)
Verbs are expressions that describe the movement of objects over time. Verbs, which describe movement, becoming, doing and states, constitute a large part of the Turkish vocabulary. Mental verbs, which are the subject of the study, are the reflectors of the movement that takes place in the mind. Perception begins when an object is perceived by the sense organs and reaches the brain. The perceived event is transferred through language. These expressions, which become conceptualized with the realization of the transfer, constitute mental verbs. This study is analyzed in 4 main sections. In the first part; the subject, importance, purpose, material and method, academic studies on the subject are given together with introductory information about verbs. In the second part, Yaşar Kemal's life and works, and in the third part, mental verbs are analyzed under four main headings. The first group includes sense verbs. These verbs consist of five different titles: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch. The emotion verbs in the second group are analyzed under three headings: instant reaction, positive and negative emotion verbs. The third group includes verbs of memory and cognition, and the fourth group includes verbs of explanation. Finally, the data were evaluated in the conclusion section. When we look at the general studies of mental verbs, it is seen that data are obtained through dictionary searches, texts and dialect studies. In this study, mental verbs in a literary work were analyzed. Yaşar Kemal's 26 novels were taken as the work. It is aimed to determine the data on the meaning diversity of the mental verbs detected in the novels. As a result of the study, in addition to the mental verbs that are also included in dictionaries, verbs that are not included in the Turkish Dictionary, which Yaşar Kemal reflected in his works, were also found. In addition, mental verbs in compound verb structure also occupy a large place among the collected data. When we look at the mental verb data obtained from the novels, it is determined that verbs of sight, verbs of touch, verbs of negative emotion, verbs of memory and verbs of cognition are frequently used.
