An analysis of the surah Yâsîn in terms of semantics

We aimed to examine the relationship between the Qur'an and rhetoric which reveals this miraculous structure of the Qur'an to humans. Hence, we examined the subject of semantics, which is one of the subjects of rhetoric whose examples are seen in the Qur'an frequently. As a specific surah/chapter to work on we chose the Surah Yasin due to Prophet's (pbuh) narration about its virtues, countless academic research studies conducted, the immense importance attributed to it since the early ages of Islam, and also the widespread use of it among people for special occasions such as births, funerals, weddings, etc. The study consists of three parts. In the introduction, information was given about the subject, purpose, importance, and sources of the research. Then, in the first chapter, general information is given under the title of rhetoric and its effect on tafsir, and under that title, the effect of rhetoric on the field of tafsir is discussed. Furthermore, a general evaluation has been made about the characteristic features of the surah Yâsîn. In the second chapter, the subjects of semantics, isnâd, khabar, and inshâ', are explained together with their sub-titles, and their examples in the surah of Yâsîn are discussed after each chapter. In the last chapter, Qasr, fasl-wasl, îcâz-itnâb-musâwât, which are among the subjects of semantics, are explained together with their sub-titles, and the verses that are examples of these subjects in the surah of Yasin are mentioned after each title.
