Abstract (EN)

This study was planned to investigate the correlation between M. Quadriceps Femoris muscle strength with balance and quality of life in older people, was included 62 older adults whose mean age 68,5±4,53 years and whose age range 65-90. These older people who were included the study, cognitive functions were evaluated by Mini Mental State Test; M.Quadriceps Femoris muscle strength by Biodex System-4 isokinetic Dynamometer, dynamic and static balance by Biodex Balance System and quality of life by World Health Organization Quality of Life- Old Module. In addition to these, the cases? sociodemographic characteristics were recorded. According to the result of the study; the older people who have higher M. Quadriceps Femoris muscle strength were found that have better dynamic balance and static balance; moreover have higher quality of life scores (p<0.05). Also, it was determined that there were correlation between age, muscle strength and quality of life (p<0.05) while there were no correlation between age, dynamic balance and static balance (p>0.05). In our study, M. Quadriceps Femoris muscle strength was found to be an important parameter affecting the balance and quality of life in elderly individuals.
