The quality of life in elderly population and the role of social services in self-perceptions of aging: The case of Ankara

Aging is a natural process that starts with birth and ends with death. By getting older, old age begin sandaging process gets closer to an end. Oldage, which is the last stage of a natural processand can be experienced in biological, psychological, economic and social ways is both in dividual and socialfact. Ever since the middle of the twentieth century, with the demographic changing processes began in many countries, policies about old age became crucial and caused transformation on social services. With the localization of public services, social policy implementing role of local authorities has increased. An old aged person having positiveperception of life quality or having the perception that aging is a natural process, make sold aged people strong against the risks of period which they live in. Therefore, this study grounds on the close relationship between life quality in old age and attitude toward saging and aims to analyse the differences of relationship between life quality and attitude to ward saging in demographical terms, reval the relationship between life quality and aging attitude. To scope of the study, a literature reviewand survey studies been made. Inordertoacquire data, 225 people who are overage of 60 have been conducted WHOQOL-OLD and AAQ. Datas were collected by face to face interview sandanalysed with SPSS 23 program. Chi-Square Test and cross tabulationare used statistically. It is concluded that there is a positive correlation between life quality and attitude to aging.
