The effect of the difficulty of adaptation to the old people on the quality of life

The Effect Of The Difficulty Of Adaptation To The Old People On The Quality Of Life Aim: This research was conducted with individuals over the age of sixty-five in order to analyze the effect of adjustment difficulties on the quality of life in the elderly.. Material and Method: This research was cross-sectional. The universe of the research is Yenişehir Ofis family health center, Kayapınar 15 Temmuz family health center, Kayapınar Tekel family health center no 2, Kayapınar Talaytepe family health center, Kayapınar Tekel no 1, Bağlar Zümrütkent family health center, Yenişehir Ziya Gökalp family health center, Yenişehir Kültür family health center, Bağlar Havalimanı family health center, Yenişehir Üçkuyu family health center. A total of 89,338 elderly individuals aged 65 and over were registered in the family health center. The sample size of the study was determined as 456 people with a power analysis of 95% confidence interval, 0.05 error level, 0.25 effect size and 0.95 universe representation power. The number of elderly individuals to be selected from the Family Health Centers was determined by the cluster weighting method, and then the elderly people over the age of 65 registered in the Family Health Center were listed and selected by simple random sampling method. Results: In this study, it was determined that the mean score of the Difficulty in Adjustment Scale for the Elderly was 27.49±16.69, and the mean score of the Quality of Life Scale for the Elderly was 71.74±10.98. It has been determined that the Adaptation Difficulty Scale in the Elderly and sub-dimensions of this scale like Role and Self-Actualization Style, Mutual Attachment, Physiological Status have an effect of 20.2% on the Quality of Life in the Elderly. Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that the Scale of Adjustment Difficulty in the Elderly and its sub-dimensions and socio-demographic characteristics had a 28.4% effect on Quality of Life.As a result of our study, it was determined that the increase in adaptation to old age also increases the quality of life. In line with these results, it should be recommended to increase the relevant studies of public health nurses for elderly individuals and to prepare and implement training programs in order to increase the quality of life and minimize adaptation difficulties for these individuals.
