Falls in old age in the context of the causes of accidents and variables results age: The case of Nazilli

This Master's Thesis research of İTGE (Ismail Tufan Institute of Gerontology) is the result of an additional catalogue/questionnaire added to research carried out in Nazilli encompassing an extensive sampling from home settings of falling accidents related to cohorts in different age groups. This thesis research is based on a comparison of individuals age 60 and above with individuals under the age of 60. Various aspects of the studies hypothesis, which asserts that there is a significant relationship between age and fall accidents, are tested. The sample of 1,461 people with a range in ages from 17 to 98, consists of those respondents who reported having fallen within the previous twelve months prior to the date of the interview. Based on age, rating scale distributions were separated into four groups namely: young, middle aged, old, and oldest of old. Based on these distributions, t-test analyses and various comparisons relevant to the hypothesis were undertaken. Findings of the survey show that this hypothesis is valid.Key Words: Age, aging, the falling risk, falling accident.
