Abstract (EN)
It is expected that the self-efficacy of individuals will be high in a costly and long process such as home care of the bedridden patient. The study was conducted to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the self-efficacy level of caregivers of bedridden patients. The explanatory factor analysis consists of 314 caregivers residing in the city center of Trabzon, while the sample of confirmatory factor analysis consists of 257 caregivers residing in the city center of Rize. Test-retest was performed with 55 caregivers. Personal Information Form and Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale were used to obtain the data. The content validity index of the draft Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale was found to be 0.705. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value for Explanatory Factor Analysis was found 0.913 and Bartlett test X2=5733.750. After the explanatory factor analysis, the Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale consists of 29 items. Among these items, there are 9 social support sub-dimensions, 10 care-giving sub-dimensions, 6 stress management sub-dimensions and 4 disease information sub-dimensions. The variance explained in the Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale was 59.246%. In the explanatory factor analysis, factor loading values ranged between 0.644 and 0.840. The Χ2/Sd value of the confirmatory factor analysis was 3.10, the RMSEA value was 0.0.70, the CFI value was 0.90, and the NFI value was 0.90. The Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale fit index values are at a good level and confirm the structure formed in the explanatory factor analysis. Spearman-Brown=0.837, Guttman Split-Half=0.836 and Cronbach Alpha value for Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale were determined as 0.939. Item-total Correlation ratios varied of 0.356-0.689, test-retest analysis results were r= 0.735 (p<0.001) and t= 0.897 (p>0.05). As a result, Caregiver Self-Efficacy Scale is a valid and reliable measurement scale that can be used to determine the self-efficacy levels of caregivers of bedridden patients.
