Abstract (EN)
Aim: Because of a felt need for studies which examine nurse job satisfaction and patient satisfaction together, this study was conducted for the purpose of determining factors that affect nurse job satisfaction and patient satisfaction and to examine the relationship between nurse job satisfaction and patient satisfaction. Method: The sample for this descriptive and correlational study was a total of 140 nurses who worked on 28 wards of two public hospitals and 280 patients admitted to these wards. Data about the nurses were collected on a sociodemographic characteristics information form and a 32-item Job Satisfaction Scale. The scale is a five-point likert-type scale and an increase in the score indicates an increase in job satisfaction. The scale's reliability coefficient in this study was 0.92. The data collection tools for patients included a sociodemographic characteristics information form and a 27-item Scale of Satisfaction from Nursing Services. The lowest possible score from the scale is 27 and the highest is 135. An increase in the score on the scale, which is single-dimensional and in a five-point likert type, indicates an increase in satisfaction. The scale's reliability coefficient in this study was 0.98. The data were analyzed using t test, Kruskal-Wallis test, one way variance, Pearson correlation and stepwise regression analysis. Findings and Results: The research results showed a middle and low level of nursing job satisfaction. There was no variation in nurse job satisfaction according to demographic or professional characteristics, only the level of satisfaction of nurses who worked on surgical wards was found to be higher than those who worked on medical wards. The patients' level of satisfaction with nursing care was at a high level and differences were determined in level of satisfaction according to patients' demographic and illness process-related characteristics. It was seen that 48% of the patients' satisfaction could be explained by patient characteristics which examined their perceptions of their own health status. There was no significant relationship found between nurse job satisfaction and patient satisfaction. Recommendations to improve nurse and patient satisfaction based on research results were presented.
