A Comparative study on the level of realising the social functions of primary and boarding primary schools

Dooç.Dr. Selami SÖNMEZ The study has been earned out to investigate the comparison in realising the social function of primary schools and boarding primary scools. It has been focused on the extent to which these schools fullfilled the social goals. To provide a necessary theoretical background to the study, the historical development of the primary and regional boarding schools has been included. Some legal document, which are essential to the study have also been included. The study covers two aspects: The first phase covers a descriptive section to explore primary and boarding primary schools. The second phase of the study is empirical and has included all 6 primary schools in Erzurum and 6 regional boarding schools in the surrounding towns. Total 262 teacher and 803 student participated in the study. The data were analysed using frequency(f), percentege (%) and chi-square (X2). Based on the findings, some important recommendation,have been generated. The results of the study suggest some important evidence about the realisation of the social functionpnost of them prove that the primary schools are more successful.
