Abstract (EN)

İntroduction: Attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the development and functioning of the person who begins with childhood, characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness that is inappropriate for the age of the person. SCT (Sluggish Cognitive Tempo) is a cognitive arousal and alertness disorder that demonstrates clinical symptoms such as drowning in dreams, difficulty in staying awake, low energy, living in your own world, stunning looks. Although SCT has previously been considered as a subtype of ADHD, recent research supports that it is a separate disorder. Objective and Method: It is predicted that SCT comorbid ADHD cases will be different from healthy controls in terms of brain metabolism, blood supply and white matter connections. Our study is a cross-sectional and descriptive study aiming to obtain information about the etiology of SCT as a result of evaluation of functional MRI findings of SCT comorbid ADHD cases compared with healthy control cases. The cases were selected from patients who applied to our polyclinic. Results: The patient sample consisted of 24 SCT-ADHD-predominant attention deficit type, 18 SCT-ADHD-Combined Type and 24 healthy controls. Sociodemographic characteristics and severity of symptoms are characteristic of the groups they are experiencing. Significant degree of hyperactivation was found during go tasking compared to the control group in SCT comorbid ADHD and SCT-ADHD-CT in terms of imaging findings. There was no significant difference in the SCT-ADHD-DEB cases compared to the control group.
