The effect of Yavuz Durak's works on children's self-esteem (My Ancestor-The Wrong Fairy Tale-Sing Me a Song example)

Children's songs are known to support all developmental processes of children, including cognitive and affective. This study aimed to examine the effect of Yavuz Durak's works on children's self-esteem. The mixed method design, in which qualitative and quantitative research methods are used together, has been preferred in the research dec A structured interview form was used in the qualitative dimension of the research, and a semi-experimental pattern without a control group was used in the quantitative dimension of the pre-test and post-test. The working group consists of children's choir students with 50 people in the December 9-12 age range. The data were obtained by using the Rosenberg self-esteem scale and a structured interview form consisting of 10 questions. The obtained data were converted into frequency and percentage table by SPSS 13 program. The open-ended questions obtained from the participants were tabulated into codes and categories and presented. As a result of the research, it was concluded that children's self-esteem was at a high level based on pre-test and post-test scores. Based on this information, it was found that songs did not have an effect on children's self-esteem. As a result of the interview, it was found that it positively affected the perspectives and opinions of children. In the experimental procedure performed, it was found that the works of Atam, False fairy tale and Tell me a song by Avuz Durak were beneficial for developing a positive view of children's perspectives of their own selves.
