Abstract (EN)

Informal education is a type of education which can meet the education needs of any people at any age. Public education centres are kind of an informal education institution and they have a great role to meet these needs. Also music is one of the elements we need whole our lives. Therefore indiviuals are in need of a music education to meet their music needs and to develope it. In this study we aimed to reveal public education centres' current situation and to detect their efficiency in music education so that we can put forward the contributions to it. Another purpose of this study is to identify the current situation's positive and negative sides which were detected by revealing the attendees of music education's views about the music education and the educator. For that purpose attendees who participated in music course in public education centres between 2018-2019 formed the population and 121 attendees who participated in music course in public education centres in Bursa created the sample. To gain the research data, books, articles, bulletins and theses were searched by using general survey method. Two data collection tools were used in the study. One of them is public education centres information and observation form, the other one is a four-part survey which was apllied to attendees. 5 point likert scale was apllied to attendees participated in music courses so as detecting the view of them about institution, music course and educators and their personel information. After sorting out survey results by setting down their values as frequency (f) and percent value (%) as part of descriptive statistical techniques, these results turned into tables. It is noted that public education centres advertise themselves sufficently yet they have some physical inadequacy (like classes, elevators, cafes/cantines). The most number of music courses were opened in 2017 (219 classes) and again the most number of attendees participated these courses (3940 attendees). Some suggestions stated for inadequacies. About athe attendees, it is found out that number of male attendees are more than females and their age range is mostly 35-49. Also it is revealed that they applied to courses with application forms and mostly they became aware of these courses with reference to their friends. Because they chose these courses for its qualified educators and being free. Other results about attendees are that they participated these courses as a hobby and to improve themselves, also they thougt the physical conditions and meeting expectations of society and themselves are adequate. Finally they stated that music educators are sufficent for teaching abilities.
