A research on social skills of the first grade students that have pre-school education and that do not have pre-school education in summer kindergarten school

The aim of this study is to research the social skills of the first grade primary school students that have pre-school education and that not have pre-school education in summer kindergarten school, and also to evaluate the students' social skills in terms of some factors. The population is composed of the students attending the first grade classes in primary schools in Mardin connected to the Ministry of National Education and their families in 2012-2013 Academic Years. The sample of the study is made up of the students attending the first grade classes in Bahcelievler and Dicle Primary Schools in 2012-2013 Academic Year, which are connected to KiziltepeDistrict National Education Directorate in Mardin, and their families. 99 of these students have pre-school education and 70 of them do not have pre-school education. In order to evaluate the students' social skill levels, Social Skills Evaluation Scale (SSES), developed by Assoc Prof. Hasan AVCIOGLU and Prof. Dr. Gonul AKCAMETE, is used. Also, Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher is used so as to determine the personal information of the students. The analysis of the data is carried out by the packet program SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). In the data analysis, covariance analysis test (ANCOVA) is used. In order to determine how effective the independent variable is on the dependent variable, eta square analysis (ANCOVA) is used. As a result of the study, the socialization, speaking-cognitive and auto control skills of the students who have attended summer kindergarten school are found to be higher in comparison with the students who do not have pre-school education.
