Comparison of the leisure time attitude levels of young people participating in summer sports schools (sample of Iraq and Türkiye)

Free time activities enable young people to feel happy and peaceful and to socialize. It contributes to their physical and mental development. This study aims to determine and compare the free time attitude levels of young people who attend summer sports schools in Iraq and Turkey. In this study, a survey model was used to determine the free time attitude levels of young people who continue sports activities in summer sports schools in some provinces of Iraq and Turkey. 446 young people were reached in the provinces of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk in Iraq. Also in Turkey, 416 young people who attend summer sports schools in the provinces of Elazığ, Malatya, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Urfa and Bursa were reached. This study was conducted with young people who attended summer sports schools organized by the Ministry and Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports after the end of school in their countries in July, August and September 2024. For data analysis the SPSS 22 package program was used in the study. The significance levels of statistical analyzes in the study, were determined according to p<0.05. In addition, frequency distribution (f), arithmetic mean (Χ), standard deviation (SS), percentage (%) and t-test independent sample values were used.
