Due to the rapidly developing technology and increasing customer demands in recent years, the software industry has a very competitive environment. In this environment, project management plays an important role for software development. It includes all activities related to software development, project management, planning, execution, monitoring and control of the project process. This process is an important factor affecting the success of the project. Many decisions need to be made in the software project management process. These include determining the method and methodology to be used for the project. There are many project management methodologies in the software industry. These methodologies are suitable for different requirements and project characteristics. For example, different methodologies are available such as Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming (XP), Lean and Six Sigma. This thesis comprehensively examines project management methodologies in the software industry using a literature review and an analytical approach. During the review process, popular methodologies selected according to predetermined criteria are examined in detail. The basic principles, features, usage areas, advantages and disadvantages of each methodology will be discussed. This thesis will serve as a guide for project managers and software developers as they examine the different methodologies used for software project management.
