Abstract (EN)
We live in a world where radiation is everywhere. Radiation is dependent on environmental factors. Yedikir Dam is a dam which belonging to Suluova district in Amasya province. Suluova people use drinking water from this dam as well as irrigation in agriculture. In this study, activity concentrations of ⁴⁰K, ²²⁶Ra and ²³²Th were measured at 1460, 1764 and 2610 keV, respectively, in soil samples around Yedikir Dam in Suluova province of Amasya. These measurements were determined by a gamma spectrometer system containing a 3 "x3" NaI (Tl) detector at the Amasya University Radioactive Research Laboratory. Activity concentrations (⁴⁰K, ²²⁶Ra and ³³²Th), radium equivalent activities, total and annual effective dose rate and internal hazard indices were calculated. These calculated values are well below the limit values.
