Abstract (EN)

Syntax examines the rules of combining words to create phrases or sentences, and the function of phrases in a sentence, also explains the way sentences are connected, and the form-meaning relationship between the connected sentences. In this study, Yekta Kopan's novel named "Sıradan Bir Gün" syntactically analyzed. The first chapter includes the author's biography and a summary of the novel. In the second chapter, elements of the sentence, functions of these elements, descriptions of phrase types, and their functions in a sentence are explained with examples from the novel. Then sentence connection forms, sentences according to the type and position of the predicate, the meaning features of the sentences are stated and the subject is supported with examples. Finally, the sentences selected from the novel are analyzed in terms of the elements of the sentence and phrases. In this novel, adjective phrases, compound verbs, and noun phrases are mostly seen. This study aims to help to understand the main lines of Syntax of Modern Turkish through classifications and analysis. Keywords: Syntax, Phrases, Elements of the Sentence, Sıradan Bir Gün
