Thesis)Eren KESKİOĞLUGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYFebruary 2005ABSTRACTIn this study, two new Schiff bases: 1,4-bis[3-(2-hydroxy-1-naphtaldimine)propyl] piperazine(bappnaf) and 1,8-bis(2-hydroxy-1-naphtaldimine)-p-menthane (damnaf) were obtained using 1,4 -bis ( 3 -aminopropyl ) piperazine(bapp) , 1,8 - diamino- p - menthane (dam) and 2-hydroxy-1-naphtaldehyde.The structure of bappnaf and damnaf Schiff bases have been determined withelement analysis and spectroscopic methods. In addition complexes havinggeneral formula, as [ML(H2O)x]Cl•yH2O (M=Cr(III),Fe(III) and Co(III), x=0-2,y=0-3), of these Schiff bases were synthesized and their structures weredetermined element analysis , spectrometric methods , magnetic susceptibility,molar conductivity and TGA / DTA methods.
